Introduction
It is important to note that modern computerised systems are advancing so fast that what you do – transactions, transportation, communications, etc. – can only be done through a chip inserted somewhere in you. The prophecy of the Mark of the Beast is not just about a physical mark; it describes a totalizing global system, towards the end times.
Main Verse: Revelation 13:7-8
And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Main Points
Why given the power? There are three reasons:
- Immediate Source – the beast gets his earthly "muscle" from the enemy () because the enemy wants to be worshipped as God, but cannot manifest physically as a world ruler, so uses a human "front man" (the beast) to establish one world order;
Revelation 13:2
And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as {the feet} of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. - Human Source – where the beast has power because people of the world want it (global consent) (). In a time of global chaos, people trade freedom for security – seeking a "solution" to global instability means surrender of personal and national sovereignty, in order to "buy and sell";
Revelation 13:3-4
And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. {wounded: Gr. slain} And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who {is} like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? - Ultimate Source – God allows it because of the final "ripening" of human rebellion – when the world consistently rejects Christ, God eventually "gives them over" () to delusion.
Romans 1:24
Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Characteristics of the Beast
- One World Order – emphasizes that the Beast's authority is universal. This suggests a global governance that transcends modern borders, unified under a single leadership structure.
Revelation 13:7
And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. - Economic Globalism – In , we read "...so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark." This can only happen when goods and services are cashless, so one central authority controls the "ledger" or ability to transact — they can effectively "cancel" anyone who does not align with their ideology, particularly those of the Faith.
Revelation 13:17
And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. - Spiritual Roots – In , we read of the Tower of Babel. This new global system is a revival of it, with a desire to reach heaven, to be like God and make a name for themselves through a unified language and purpose but excluding God – through humanism and demonic influence.
Genesis 11
Verse text not found - Religious Unity – In , we are introduced to a second beast that performs miracles to deceive the world. This represents a one world religion that strips away the exclusive truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to create a "universal" faith that supports the global political order and leader.
Revelation 13:11-12
And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
Memory Verse
Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.
Conclusion
We see the "spirit of the antichrist" already at work as the world moves toward increased centralization and the erosion of personal and national sovereignty. As the system of the world becomes more unified, the believer's call is to remain spiritually distinct. We do not place our hope in a global utopia created by man, but in the returning Kingdom of God. The ultimate "Global Order" will be when every knee bows and every tongue confesses that Jesus Christ is Lord.
