Introduction
Fight! You must. It is taking part in a violent struggle by exchanging blows or using weapons. An enemy, in most cases attacks first, you must retaliate to finish in victory. There are bad fights, and these lead to nowhere, for they tend toward distractions. There are good fights, and these lead to somewhere, for they tend towards sharpened focus. As a Christian, have you been fighting the good fight?
Main Points: 1 Timothy 6:12
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
1 Timothy 6:12
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
- Fight the good fight of faith: Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, where unto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses . You see, life is not fair; it does not give us what we deserve. Rather, life gives us what we demand by faith
1 Timothy 6:12
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
.Matthew 11:12
And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. {suffereth...: or, is gotten by force, and they that thrust men}
- Spiritual equipment for the fight: In other to reach the promised land, there are giants lying in wait . As such, we need to be spiritually equipped to fight. There will always be viruses attacking us and even though they come like a flood, God will lift up a standard against it
Deuteronomy 2:24
Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess {it}, and contend with him in battle. {begin...: Heb. begin, possess}
.Isaiah 59:19
So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him. {lift...: or, put him to flight}
- Violent faith brings manifestation: Since every knee shall bow , we need to engage in the power of violent faith to ensure that this statement is manifested through the challenges we encounter.
Philippians 2:10
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of {things} in heaven, and {things} in earth, and {things} under the earth;
- Faith is a conquering force: Faith is not a religious theory. Faith is not a gentle touch but a violent force. Faith is a fight, and it is the master-key to a world of unlimited possibilities. It is taking full responsibility in light of God's word.
- Fearless and resolute faith: Violent faith is fearless and spiritually resolute because it is not a beggarly force; but rather a conquering force. Faith is the victory that overcomes the world . It is faith that moves the hand of God to work on our behalf and makes us conquer
Daniel 3:1-18
Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height {was} threescore cubits, {and} the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up. Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up. Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages, {aloud: Chaldee, with might} {it...: Chaldee, they command} {That} at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up: {dulcimer: or, singing: Chaldee, symphony} And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down {and} worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up. Wherefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and accused the Jews. They spake and said to the king Nebuchadnezzar, O king, live for ever. Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image: {dulcimer: or, singing: Chaldee, symphony} And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, {that} he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. {have...: Chaldee, have set no regard upon thee} Then Nebuchadnezzar in {his} rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king. Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, {Is it} true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up? {true: or, of purpose} Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; {well}: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who {is} that God that shall deliver you out of my hands? {dulcimer: or, singing: Chaldee, symphony} Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we {are} not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be {so}, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver {us} out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
.Romans 8:37
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
- Faith in action: Faith is not a dormant force it is a violent force . Daniel did not beg when he was thrown into the lion's den because he had tremendous faith in God
Mark 2:1-12
And again he entered into Capernaum after {some} days; and it was noised that he was in the house. And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive {them}, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken {it} up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, Why doth this {man} thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only? And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, {Thy} sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.
. To deactivate the works of the enemy, we need faith.Daniel 6:3-22
Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit {was} in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm. Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he {was} faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find {it} against him concerning the law of his God. Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever. {assembled...: or, came tumultuously} All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions. {decree: or, interdict} Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not. {altereth not: Chaldee, passeth not} Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree. Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God. Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask {a petition} of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing {is} true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not. Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which {is} of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day. Then the king, when he heard {these} words, was sore displeased with himself, and set {his} heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him. Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians {is}, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed. Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast {him} into the den of lions. {Now} the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee. And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel. Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him. {instruments...: or, table} Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions. And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: {and} the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions? Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever. My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.
- Crossing our Red Sea: We need violent faith because there is always a 'Red Sea' to cross before we get to our promised land, and we need violent faith to get across ;
Exodus 13:17-18
And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not {through} the way of the land of the Philistines, although that {was} near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt: But God led the people about, {through} the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt. {harnessed: or, by five in a rank}
. Every challenge we face builds us up for the next level of our breakthrough.Isaiah 30:21
And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This {is} the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
Memory Verse
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen— Hebrews 11:1
Violent faith is the fight! If you do not have the substance (assurance, firm foundation, resolute trust) of things you hope for, and evidence of things not seen (the available body of spiritual facts or information indicating an event or thing will emerge in the physical and or spiritual), then you are not a fighter; merely a spectator.
