Introduction
The Christian faith has the central truth about life after death. Eternal life, to the Christian faith, is an essential truth, which helps make sense of the world, fosters hope for a better existence beyond this mortal plane.
Beyond this, it is about the fact that the Christian journey is not in vain, and that there is reward in the now, and in the world to come.
Main Points: John 11:25-26
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
John 11:25-26
Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
- These two verses are clear, as they show Christ affirmation of His rise from the dead, conquer of sin and death for salvation. The belief in this not only bears witness to the divine power of Jesus but also instils hope for humanity in the prospect of eternal life. This belief means we will live even though our body dies. It means we will never truly experience death, but simply pass from one life into another. The flame of our existence will never be extinguished.
- There is a choice therefore: either choose Christ or something else. There is also a price for our choice, for: “whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." . The price for our choice is made stark in
John 3:36
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
: “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son”.John 3:18
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
- There is a transition from the surety of death into surety of life eternal, by accepting Christ: "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself.
John 5:24-26
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
These are just few of the many verses that affirmed eternal life by allowing Christ into our lives as our Lord and personal saviour.
Memory Verse
But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness— Romans 8:10
Until you believe in Jesus and accept Him as Lord and Savior, you live in a state of condemnation before God. You are essentially dead spiritual, and if you then die physically in that state – the Bible says that you go straight to hell. Some people think that God would not send people to hell because He is a God of love. Yes, He is a God of love – that is why He sent Jesus to die in our place. After that, it is our choice to make. We must choose Jesus.
