Introduction
Every physical life begins with an unseen spark. Spiritually, "Conception" is the moment God's Word (the seed) meets a human heart. In the first sub-stage of conception, fertilisation, a diploid cell, is giving specific instructions from its DNA to form the various organs. Spiritually as well, the word of God is a seed sown into your heart, forming the various spiritual organs. In the second sub-stage, the trimester, you cannot abort, as all organ formation are now complete. Spiritually, attempting to abort lead to consequences – premature death, the spiritual womb permanently damaged – a spiritual heart permanently closed and therefore damaged.
Main Verses: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 1 Peter 1:23
Main Points
"For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God."
- The Incorruptible Seed: Growth cannot happen without life. Spiritual life begins when we receive the Gospel.
- The New DNA: Just as an embryo has the DNA of its parents, a believer receives "divine nature" . We are hard coded for holiness from the start.
2 Peter 1:4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
- Total Dependence: In the womb, a child does nothing for itself. Salvation is 100% God's work in us.
Conception stage is the is the foundational stage where a person transitions from being spiritually "dead" to spiritually "alive".
- The Internal Process: This stage involves Conviction (realising the need for a Saviour) and Regeneration (the Holy Spirit giving new life).
- The Pivotal Lesson: Understanding that salvation is a gift of grace through faith, not earned by works .
Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: {it is} the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
- Signs of Health: A sudden change in desires, a sense of peace with God, and an initial "first love" zeal for Christ .
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man {be} in Christ, {he is} a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. {he is: or, let him be}
- Deeper Insight: Just as a physical embryo carries all the genetic potential of an adult, a new believer has the "divine nature" and the Holy Spirit dwelling within them from day one .
2 Peter 1:4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Memory Verse
Jesus replied, 'Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.'— John 3:3
Conclusion
The conclusion here is that you do not "grow" into being a Christian; you are born into it. Have you experienced this new birth.
